AppearanceSilverWings are average-sized dragons, with long, serpentine bodies and short legs. Their scales are small and fish-like, and their bellies have a soft, velvety texture. There are larger, pointed scales running in a row from their nose, down their spine, and ending at the tip of their tail. They have black eyes like twin pools of spilled ink, with their fins are tipped with that same dark colour.
Their blood, bones, teeth and talons are all a rich black colour with a faint blue iridescence. This is due to an extremely high level of hemocyanin (to help them survive the cold) in their blood. Their bones and blood, however, begin to turn colourless as they dry. SilverWings have large, broad wings that can be white, silver, or black. They are strong, long-distance fliers, who are able to propel themselves for great lengths of time by gliding, and rarely need to actually beat their wings. They are not quite as maneuverable as many other dragons, but their endurance is unmatched by any tribe. The colour and pattern of their wings are passed on genetically, with many families incorporating their wing patterns into their coat of arms. Female SilverWings are larger, and have a row of long, narrow fins of their cheeks that male SilverWings do not possess. While their scales appear to be a simple silver-gray in dim light, when the sun hits their scales it reveals glossy, iridescent orange, red, blue, green, or even gold markings. |
Moon Children
The Moon Children are similar in most ways to regular SilverWings, but they are pure white with colourless eyes. Some Moon Children even like to rub themselves against rust deposits, colouring areas of their scales a bloody red to accentuate the paleness of their scales, while others get tattoos all over their bodies for the same purpose.
